"Anti-poverty nonprofit Oxfam recently released its 2026 rankings that assesses which states are the best for workers in the U.S. Missouri came in at No. 25, while Kansas trails its neighboring state at No. 35. Rankings are based on wages, worker protections and rights to organize.
"Kansas takes a step forward in the ranking after being placed at No. 41 in 2025, while Missouri claims the same spot it had last year. Missouri finished with an overall score of 40. It scored well on wage policies at 62.19, the 14th best score out of the 50 states. Where the state struggles is worker protections, scoring an abysmal 18.33."
