Before we even start . . .
We'd like to note that we appreciate every political hack forced to work on Labor Day weekend.
But here's our take . . .
The GOP appeal is doomed because it's only arguing against the ruling and not that any facet of the judgement was flawed.
In fact, we think the impending complaint by Rick Brattin has more merit because it alleges voter disenfranchisement against primary voters.
Nevertheless . . .
Like it or not the we think it's a long shot the Republican Majority Missouri Supreme Court will be overturned if only because the main point of contention is sketchy and sophomoric:
Jeff City GOP argues that the court must allow redistricting in order to avert a mess created by their own power move that attempted to silence a valid voter petition signed by over 300k Missouri citizens.
And allow us a conspiracy theory . . .
Nobody really cares about redistricting, the main goal for most of our conservative friends is to impress Prez Trump with their efforts with very little regard for so many rural residents who have said time and time again that they don't want to be looped in with Kansas City.
And so the show must go on . . . Take a peek:
"We have just appealed yesterday's catastrophic ruling to the Supreme Court of the United States. We look forward to the Court's prompt review of this critical matter, as our ability to hold timely and lawful congressional elections hangs in the balance," Hanaway, a Republican, said in a statement.
Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway on Friday filed an emergency appeal urging the U.S. Supreme Court to allow the new congressional map backed by President Donald Trump and other Republican leaders to be used in November's midterm election.
The appeal comes after Missouri's high court blocked the redistricting map and ordered a statewide vote in November on whether to keep it.
