Progressives Mourn Worsening Kansas City Star Layoffs

We share this nice theory with a bit of a reality check . . .

The Star as "government watchdog" is a sketchy idea that imagines an era in local print that never existed and only offers nostalgia for a time when a small group of left-leaning journalists controlled the local narrative.  

Still . . .

We enjoy fond remembrances as much as anybody else . . .  

"Newspaper layoffs are nothing new, especially at the Kansas City Star, which cut another seven journalists in September. But as local journalism employment continues to decline, communities are losing ways to scrutinize public spending and hold government officials accountable."
