Police Called To Country Club Plaza Bill Dispute Frustrates Fam

As always, we give credit to BEST & BRIGHTEST TKC READERS for sharing this consideration of etiquette, customs and traditions in Kansas City's iconic entertainment district. 

For us, the main question is . . .

SHOULD FANCY PLAZA RESTAURANTS ACCOMMODATE LARGE FAMILIES?!?

In order to try and maintain some objectivity . . . We'll have to admit our TKC bias . . . NO, in general we're opposed to large scale luxury family friendly public dining.

Moreover, if we ever have to pay luxury prices for Country Club Plaza fare, we'd prefer that the experience isn't akin to some gross family buffet with mom arguing over the bill as rugrats pull at her shirttails. We'll uphold this position no matter what demographics are at play and even stipulate that the experience might be EVEN WORSE if we had to delve into our meager Spanish translation skills to observe the affair.

Nevertheless . . .

Shame on us we because we think this place if fancy but that perception might not hold up for more worldly connoisseurs of gourmet cuisine.  

And all this brings us to a recent debate and the existential question for an entertainment district that's struggling to mount a comeback . . .

WHAT KIND OF SERVICE SHOULD LARGE FAMILIES EXPECT AT UPSCALE COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA RESTAURANTS AND/OR IS IT BETTER TO HIT THE BUFFET WITH SO MANY KITH & KIN IN TOW?!?

Here's the description from a social media critic . . . 

Family of 18 — kids, a pregnant woman, and a newborn — goes to Fogo de Chão for a 12-year-old’s birthday. 

The customer claims that the service is a mess: lobster mac comes out cold, they reheat the same plates people already ate from, food takes forever, water never shows, orders come back out to the wrong person. 

She says they stay seated, didn’t  yell or refuse to pay, and just ask to take the bad items off the check.

Police show up at the door. Manager’s explanation: they wanted to make sure nobody “ran out.”

The birthday girl walks past the officers, gets in the car crying, and says she never wants to go back.

So… according to her, they called the cops on a table full of Black people celebrating a child’s birthday because they complained about cold food and then waited to settle the bill.
