"North Kansas City Schools must slash roughly $16 million from its recurring budget, and district leaders are turning to the community for help.
"District officials said the cuts will take effect ahead of the 2027-28 school year to balance rising costs and decreased state funding.
"The district was already short $5.6 million in state money last year and expects to lose another $11 million from the state over the next two years."
