Newsflash: Senator Marshall Operates Like Every Other Doctor

We're not paying attention to this one because it's campaign season garbage . . .

A not-so-fun-fact for everyone who didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday . . .

EVERY U.S. DOCTOR'S OFFICE HAS TO COLLECT BILLS!!!

Some glorious day when the machines take over and use all humanity for nothing more than high level maids to dust servers, trim weeds and fetch more water . . . MAYBE we might get some kind of universal healthcare so that billing isn't a fact of life . . .

(And we think our blogging on this is better than most because we're no fan of the empty suit politico. ) 

Nevertheless . . .  

This week, what we learned from the "nation's paper of record" is that Senator Marshall has a doctor's office that runs like every other doctor's office in the United States . . . Check-it:  

"An investigation revealed that U.S. Senator Roger Marshall filed debt-collection lawsuits against more than 700 former patients during his previous career as a Kansas OB-GYN. The aggressive legal tactics led to the arrests of 81 people for missing court dates.

"An analysis of Kansas court records by The New York Times uncovered extensive litigation tracking back to Marshall's decades-long medical practice in rural Great Bend, Kansas.

"About half of the debt lawsuits were filed directly in Marshall's name, while the other half were submitted by Heartland Regional OBGYN, a practice he solely owned from 1998 to 2012 and retained co-ownership of until 2019. 

"Marshall's practice regularly applied an 18% annual interest rate to outstanding patient balances. This caused some small medical debts to nearly double over time.

"Marshall’s attorneys actively requested arrest warrants in dozens of briefs, citing patients' failure to appear at scheduled debt proceedings. At least 81 patients were arrested—some while caring for infants or recovering from separate surgeries—and at least 13 other warrants were sought.

"Many lawsuits targeted low-income or uninsured individuals, with bills ranging from several thousand dollars down to as little as $101."
