Transit Activist Clay Chastain to File Federal Lawsuit Against Kansas City Over Ballot Delays
Monday, Chastain & the Committee of Petitioners will file a Federal Lawsuit & "Prayer for Relief" requesting the Higher Court issue 2-rulings: (1) Order the City Charter's "60-day" delay provision as being 'unconstitutional' since the City's 'Dirty Tricks Gang' (Mayor Lucas, City Council & Legal Dept.) have manipulated it to interfere with an election by failing to place 2-Valid Petitions (Monorail & Downtown Stadium) @ the next municipal election in Nov. 2026. (2) Order the City to place the Clerk - Certified Monorail Petition on the ballot @ the next municipal election in April 2027.
We Pray the Court not only reprimand the City's "Dirty Tricks Gang" for its (anti - petition) misbehavior, but also order the City Charter amended so as to render KC's Democratic Petition Process Meaningful.
Even with an April election, the "Dirty Tricks Gang" will have succeeded in deliberately postponing (for 5 - Months!) a Public Vote on 2 - Public Petitions of Enormous (& Current) Public interest & Consequence. We Pray this Petition (in US District Court) will end any such (future) governmental abuse of Certified - Petitions from the Public that undermine the Public interest.
