Kansas City Star Pulitzer Winner Pleads For Lindsay Clancy Nolle Prosequi

We wanted to get fancy since we're considering the work of our betters . . .

About the term we didn't know until today . . .

Nolle prosequi (often shortened to "nol pros") is a Latin phrase that means "will no longer prosecute" or "to be unwilling to pursue". It is a formal motion or entry on the court record showing that the prosecutor or plaintiff has decided to drop or dismiss a criminal case or specific charges.

And here's the winner of the highest honor in all of journalism making the case to her smallish Substack audience . . .

"The worst punishment for killing your own child must be having killed your own child.

"That, and not that no one cares about the three little ones former nurse Lindsay Clancy strangled before hopping out a window, is why so many feel for Clancy, whose murder trial just ended in a mistrial after seven days of deliberations.

"I also happen to feel for the juror who couldn’t find her ‘not guilty,’ even with some doubts. And that’s because this whole case may be beyond the reaches of ‘beyond a reasonable doubt,’ and I hope they don’t retry her.

"Whatever becomes of Clancy’s legal case, though, what could be worse for this woman than the full recovery of her sanity – and with it, the full realization of all she’s done and lost?"
