Kansas City South Side Gunfire Kills Victim On Labor Day 2026

Local shooting doesn't take a break on the Kansas City holiday and today first reponders and law enforcement also answered this emergency call.

Here is the aftermath by way of a report KCPD share with local media . . .  

Homicide 8000 blk of E. 88th Ter. - LATE DEATH

This afternoon right at 3:45 pm officers were dispatched to the 8000 block of E. 88th Ter. on a shooting call. Callers reported hearing the sound of gunshot(s) and seeing a person that appeared to be injured outside an apartment building there.

On arrival officers located an adult male shooting victim outside a building there with gunshot injury. Officers called for EMS, who responded and transported the victim to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. 

Additionally, responding officers detained one subject of interest for further investigation at the scene. 

Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and began processing the scene for evidence and talking with people who were at the scene when officers arrived. 

This evening detectives were notified the victim died from his injuries. Homicide detectives have now responded to the scene and taken over the investigation. They continue to work with crime scene investigators to process the scene, inside an apartment, where detectives preliminarily believe the shooting occurred. The investigation remains ongoing tonight.
