Kansas City Releases First Slavery Reparations Report

At the bargain price of about $330K, the Mayor's Commission on Reparations shares a glorified research paper and hopes that more locals will attend lectures and meetings until the final report is due sometime in February of 2027. 

Once again, for the cheap seats . . .

The KC Reparations commish hasn't just wasted time and money but also squandered local goodwill toward urban communities and seemingly misrepresented the goals of local Black neighborhoods. 

Again and again, and in spite of the assurances of local activists, our blog community has emphasized . . .  

This isn't an effort with much grassroots support from diverse communities in Kansas City, instead the commish is mostly comprised of consultants, educators, administrators and political hopefuls. Even worse not a dime of the cash wasted on this effort will help Black neighborhoods in KCMO. 

Don't take TKC's word for it . . .

Ask around about the effectiveness of this effort in order to understand the growing divide betwixt local residents and their elected representatives.

"The commission is tasked with conducting an in-depth historical and policy analysis, community oral history collection, and municipal policy audit. This 18- month research study aims to document decades of racial inequities by gathering oral histories, archival records, and community input to inform policy recommendations . . . "
