Kansas City Gunfire Kills Two Overnight

Despite city hall insistence that violence is tending downward, we've noticed an uptick in deadly violence crime since late summer. 

While it's CORRECT that there are fewer homicides this year than last year . . . The reality that many of our readers point out is that KCMO is just starting to recover from record high homicides. Moreover, Mayor Q's tenure has been the deadliest in local history.

Homicide 7900 blk of Wornall

This morning, just before 1:30 AM, officers were dispatched to the 7900 block of Wornall on a medical nature unknown. 

As officers arrived they were directed to the parking lot of a convenience store where they located an adult female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. KCFD EMS arrived simultaneously and began life saving measures. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. 

This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Detectives are working to determine what led up to shots being fired. Investigators are on scene canvassing for witnesses, surveillance footage, and any available physical evidence.

Homicide 4100 blk of Jackson

This morning, just after 3:30 AM, patrol officers responded to an ambulance in route call in the 4100 block of Jackson. 

As officers arrived they were directed to the driveway of a residence on Jackson. There they located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began rendering aid and KCFD medics responded. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. A short time later the victim died at the hospital. 

This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led up to the incident. Crime scene personnel and investigators are on scene canvassing for witnesses, physical evidence, and surveillance footage.
