"A vast majority of the world’s Muslims don’t want to be associated with the terrorists in any way and are working to keep the religion’s traditional focus on living lives of peace that Allah (the Arabic word for God) asks all to live.

"Some Muslims who feel the world has pushed Islam’s followers into a corner and done little to respect their right to exist have now and then turned to violence — murdering nearly 3,000 people on 9/11, including my own nephew.

"Despite a history since 9/11 of Muslims being discriminated against in the U.S., the reality is that, though still small, their numbers are growing here and soon, for instance, the number of Muslims in Congress will rise from four to five."
