"Kansas City filed its lawsuit in 2023 amid a nationwide surge in Hyundai and Kia vehicle thefts and break-ins.
"The city’s settlement is part of a broader nationwide agreement involving the automakers. The settlement is separate from claims involving individual vehicle owners.
"Kansas City’s city attorney is now authorized to sign the settlement agreement, allowing the proceeds to be deposited into the city’s Violence Prevention Fund.
"The amount Kansas City will receive was not disclosed."
