Kansas City Construction Season Worse Thanks To World Cup FAIL

Labor Day weekend travelers probably noticed many more local impediments on cowtown streets.

Here's the best take on local street life and continued disappointment . . .  

The city paused projects in the urban core, from the River Market to the Plaza, during the World Cup to keep entertainment districts accessible for visitors. Emily Jacobs, the general manager of the Westport Flea Market, said that pause did not bring business back to normal.

“It didn’t pick up a whole lot during the World Cup,” Jacobs said. “Just because a lot of people weren’t coming out because they heard, oh, it’s going to be crazy everywhere because the World Cup. And so our regular customers weren’t really coming. And then they started showing back up after the World Cup ended. But then this started. So it’s like, never mind.”

Jacobs said the construction near her business started around October or November of last year and has not been given a definitive end date.
