Kansas City Afternoon Shooting Kills Victim Near Van Brunt Park

The latest local gunfire postscript and a glimpse at the ongoing late Summer homicide surge . . . 

Homicide 5000 block of E 10th St.

This afternoon about 3:20pm officers were dispatched to 9th and Denver just south behind a house on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed behind a residence to the south of the intersection where they located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive. 

Officers rendered aid and called for EMS, EMS responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene.

Responding Officers detained one subject of interest for further investigation upon their arrival.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are now at the scene processing for evidence and canvassing for any witnesses. 

Investigation indicates that the victim was at the scene when an argument escalated to an altercation that led to gunfire which struck the victim.
