Jackson County Hikes Levy Ahead Of Taxpayer Town Hall

Ahead of tonight's festivities we wanted to share a fun fact for any poor soul brave enough to attend a public meeting and newsies who want to do ACTUAL reporting rather than merely slinging press release copy. 

To wit and by way of AWESOME INSIDERS . . .

JACKSON COUNTY HIKES LEVY AHEAD OF TAXPAYER TOWN HALL!!!

The conversation was mostly ridiculous with even our GOP friends arguing that "it's only a penny" whilst others plan to save the day without enough votes on the Legislature to do it.

Here's a quick summary sent our way . . . 

"While discussions surrounding the annual adjustments are underway, voters should notice a 1-cent increase in the property tax levy rate per $100 of assessed valuation. Actually, the legislature introduced several specific tax levy adjustments yesterday . . .

These levy hearings follow a chaotic year of tax adjustments in the county. Earlier this summer, County Executive Phil LeVota and the legislature passed a massive $250 million settlement to issue property tax credits over the next three years to offset highly criticized assessment errors from 2023 and 2024."
