Jackson County Exec LeVota SHUTS DOWN Property Tax Levy Hike

Today's reminder that our TKC discourse continues to resonate at 12th & Oak . . .

Here's an important update about local tax talk . . .

Jackson County executive vetoes 2 ordinances that would increase property tax levy rates

And here's what the exec had to say about it . . .

"Today, I vetoed two ordinances that would increase property tax levy rates in Jackson County.

"This is the first time I’ve used my veto power as County Executive, and it’s not something I take lightly. One of my goals when I took office was to work with our Legislature, and I believe we’ve done that.

"But I also made a commitment to fix the property tax problems in Jackson County and provide relief to taxpayers. We’ve worked too hard to provide tax credits and correct these problems to turn around now and increase levies on the other side.

"I understand the important services these funds provide, and I support continuing to fund them. I’m not asking to reduce these levy rates. I’m simply asking that they remain where they were last year.

"I look forward to continuing to work with the Legislature, but when it comes to raising taxes, I believe right now, any increase is too much."
