Jackson County Courthouse Open Door Policy ALMOST Explained

The byzantine policy of admittance to the courthouse became a little less confusing this week. 

Recently, Jackson County Exec Phil LeVota made this announcement . . . 

"For years and years, the front door to the Jackson County - Missouri Courthouse in downtown KC has been closed. 

The divisiveness of county government shuttered the front entrance of the people’s Courthouse. 

"But progress is coming. Today, I signed the final contract documents to begin the renovations to the front and side doors with new steps, ADA access, and much more.  

"We will have construction out there for the next several months but FINALLY this beautiful 100 year-old building will have its front doors open to the residents!!"

Here was the retort from Legislator Manny Abarca . . . 

"Forte didn’t want to staff the front doors, and his buddy Frank White closed them randomly and made up excuses. Let’s not talk in myth here, let’s talk in fact.
 
"Let’s also not make believe like you solved all problems Phil. The legislature agreed and adopted this in negotiations for other projects. We also picked you to get this stuff done out of many options."
