Insight into one of many local organizations serving the less fortunate . . .
September is Hunger Action Month, a national campaign to join your community to help fight hunger. With several organizations in our area committed to the campaign, there are many ways we as a community can do our part to ensure our neighbors can feel a little more at ease.
Kanbe’s Markets is one such organization, and they’ve extended an invitation to you. Their goal is to build a broader food system, creating access from loss, with a business model that creates sources for local fresh food, supports small businesses, and inspires volunteers.
On their Hunger Action Month page, Kanbe’s says, “In Kansas City, 59% of food that goes to waste could have been eaten. The system was never built to get that food where it’s needed most.”
