Fight At Kansas City Northland QT Ends In Deadly Gunfire

A tragic local trend continues on the nice side of the bridge . . . From our perspective: Navigating convenience stores now requires a great deal of skill, patience and tact as the places for socialization are fewer in the digital era.

Moreover, the location is important inasmuch as we have to point out a truism . . . Trending violence NEVER stays completely confined to one neighborhood or area as technology continues to make the world an even smaller and more accessible place for better and worse.

Accordingly, here is the aftermath report that KCPD share with local media . . .

Homicide 500 blk of NW Englewood Rd.

Tonight just before 9:45pm officers were dispatched to a convenience store/gas station business in the 500 block of NW Englewood Rd on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed to a vehicle in front of the convenience store there. Inside that vehicle officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive.

Officers rendered aid and called for EMS to the scene, EMS responded and declared the victim deceased.

Officered located several people who were in the area at the time of the shooting. Detectives are talking with them now.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for all available evidence.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim had an interaction with one or more suspects in and around the vehicle parked in front of the business. That interaction escalated to gunfire which struck the victim.

The suspect or suspects then left the scene in an unknown direction on foot.

If anyone was in this area and heard or saw anything or has any information, and has not yet talked to police, they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
