Campaign Against New Kansas City Royals Stadium: Wasted Effort?!?

Don't get it twisted . . . We don't want to discourage anybody . . .

But as we've noted previously . . . 

Given so many familiar faces, there's a lot about the activist outcry against the new stadium that seems more like a labor negotiation and less like a really grassroots effort to shut down construction efforts. 

Here's a more straightforward report that doesn't consider the idea of "controlled opposition" at play: 

The ordinance would require a public vote before the city funds any future stadium projects. It would apply to any arena seating 2,500 people or more.

The full city council still needs to vote before the measure goes on the ballot in April.

The group behind the original petition, Missouri Workers Power, says the effort is about sending a signal on large public deals.

“This is not over. The stadium is not a done deal. We have the opportunity as Kansas Citians, whether you’re for the Royals stadium or you’re against it... vote yes if you care about what your tax dollars are being spent on,” said Terrence Wise, Missouri Workers Power.
