After Tragic Death Eric Zahnd Fam Disputes Criminal Investigation

Of course this family is entitled to grieve and they're also entitled to have their say . . . BUT NOW they also contradict local law enforcement. 

For the record . . .  

In a statement, MSHP said, “the Platte County Sheriff requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC) investigate criminal allegations against Prosecutor Eric Zahnd. This investigation is still considered active and ongoing. To protect the integrity of the investigation, no further comment can me made at this time.”

Just for the cheap seats . . .

THAT'S TWO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES CONFIRMING AN INVESTIGATION!!!  

We want to be kind because we are initiated in the ways of politics, denial and grief. 

But if they couldn't convince him that he wasn't in trouble then it's unclear why anybody else should believe it.  

Yes that's rough, we're not out to hurt anyone's feelings and hope whoever convinced the family to get aggressive in their MSM pushback rather than mourning in private asks for forgiveness in offering flawed counsel. 

The reality is that Zahnd earned quite a bit of privilege and grace when he was alive and the sheer volume of evidence that's now floating across social media and being freely shared is common knowledge amongst most local reporters and po-po . . . We dropped hints, clues and previews because, like Zahnd, we knew that the so much drama surrounding his office was about to hit its apex AND that his political adversaries are also entitled to defend themselves.

TKC was never an adversary of the esteemed former lawman and, in fact, we backed off a post about him because we understood the deep esteem that many people held for the local leader despite his recent years of ADMITTED erratic behavior and slew of NOW ADMITTED sketchy e-mails and tactics that are starting to come to light.  

One of the many tragedies in all of this is that PLATTE COUNTY IS SMALL POTATOES and we believe that Zahnd would have prevailed against or at least survived whatever challenges that plagued him.    

And so . . . As we mentioned at the outset of this post, the family deserves to have their say . . .  

“Recent news has referenced an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MHSP), offering no context and understandably causing many to speculate Eric may have been facing criminal prosecution and that these circumstances were the cause of his death. Nothing could be further from the truth,” the family said.

“Eric made a mistake and used his official county email to indicate that he would not support the reelection of a candidate. It was a mistake. We know in full health Eric would never have made that error.”

The family added, “In the rough world of politics and government leadership, some wanted to exploit a mistake by a good man. We hope that controversy may be ended, and that our family may be allowed to grieve in peace.”
