120 Kansas Methodist Ministers Implore Senator Marshall For Campaign Mercy

Make no mistake . . . We think this is political fair game . . . But it's also clever. . . Most voters tend to frown on strident push back against faith leaders and so their concerns must be answered carefully.

Here's a peek at the complaint that might set the tone of the midterm contest in favor of Rev. Hamilton:

"A Methodist pastor from Wichita has penned a letter to Senator Roger Marshall, in response to comments Marshall made about his opponent, Adam Hamilton, who leads a Methodist church.

"The letter is signed by 120 Methodist ministers across the state of Kansas. Amy Lippoldt, the senior pastor at Wichita First United Methodist Church, is one of them.

"Lippoldt is calling on Marshall to change his campaign rhetoric around the Methodist church.

" 'I was at the state fair debate last Saturday and heard some of the comments Marshall said, trying to attack Adam’s pastoral ministry,” Lippoldt said. “It goes beyond just attacking Adam. It spreads to United Methodism in general. Christians attacking other Christians for their faith doesn’t get us anywhere.' "
