For close weekend readers we wanted to make a local connection to a think piece that's gaining traction.
Our premise . . .
Trending discord amongst Americans inevitably plays out in Kansas City.
A few examples . . .
- We can't really hang out anymore, the cancellation of Lee's Summit Downtown Days kinda speaks to the big picture where locals would rather give up than overcome security challenges.
- From massive MAGA rallies to constant "No Kings" demonstrations. Kansas City public gatherings mostly focus on protest and outcry against political opposition.
- Even local zoning disputes in wonderful places like Prairie Village have divide neighbors who all look the same to the untrained dye.

American citizens are far more likely to view their fellow countrymen as fundamentally evil than citizens of the other surveyed nations.
"Specifically, 53 percent of U.S. adults explicitly stated that the average American has bad morals and ethics. This matters enormously. A society cannot thrive when most people no longer believe their fellow citizens are fundamentally decent."
