Will Mayor Q Finally Push Kansas City Homicides Below 100?!?!

This week Mayor Q touts progress against homicides after suffering the deadliest tenure in Kansas City throughout most of his two years. 

Starting in 2020 and until around early 2025 . . . Kansas City suffered record breaking violence and the highest homicide totals ever recorded. 

Now . . . Following the trend of the entire nation, thankfully, Kansas City is on pace to record far few homicides than recent years. 

Even better . . .

COULD KANSAS CITY FINALLY CURB THE HOMICIDE COUNT TO UNDER 100?!?

Fulfilling his early campaign promises would be an important victory even if it follows KC's historic crime surge. People who actually care about this town want to see violent crime numbers trend downward and it's totally attainable despite the late summer uptick in fatal shootings. 

Whilst context is important . . . There's also no point in being a downer about recent lower crime numbers as long as we look at Mayor Q's record on local violence in its entirety.  

To wit . . . For those who didn't see it, here's Mayor Q's recent statement and more reporting . . . 

"As of Sunday we’re at 77 homicides compared to 102 last year as of the same date, which is a 24 percent decrease. The five-year average is 103 homicides at this point in the year, which means we are at a 25 percent decrease. 

"We are at 207 non-fatal shootings compared to 255 last year, which is a 19 percent decrease. We are at 207 non-fatal shootings compared to 255 last year, which is a 19 percent decrease."
