Schumer Entertains Kansas Blue Wave

It's not quite a prediction but a Democratic Party consideration that sees weakness in conservative opposition who didn't keep promises about staying out of forever wars and fixing the economy.

Punchline . . . The Dems don't have a plan for Iran either. 

Nevertheless, that doesn't stop the march toward midterms and a power change that's mostly performative when we talk about long term U.S. policy. 

And so we check the hopeful comment by U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer . . .

If the midterms are shaping up to be a “blue wave,” Schumer has his eyes on Kansas, a state that President Donald Trump won by 16 points just two years ago.

“Kansas is a good example of why you can’t paint every state with the same brush,” Schumer told us in an interview last week, the day after pastor Adam Hamilton won the Kansas Democratic Senate nomination to face Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.). “This guy is a minister, a moderate Methodist. He’s a seasoned politician.”

It’s in Schumer’s interest to talk up a win in a state like Kansas — though he did acknowledge it’d need to be a “wave election” for Democrats to emerge victorious in redder states.

But that Kansas is even in the conversation at all shows how far Senate Democrats have come in a cycle that was supposed to be dreadful for them. Even if Hamilton loses, he could force Republicans to divert some resources there, as they did in Nebraska at the tail end of last cycle.
