Olathe Enacts 'Halo Act' Amid Resistance, Protest & ICE Uptick

"Olathe has added the state’s “Halo Act” to its city code, but the decision to do so by the city council was made after some debate over the law’s constitutionality and local government control. The adoption was passed 5-2 by the city council . . .

"The Halo Act creates a 25-foot buffer around all first responders. Conditions for it to apply include the first responder must be identifiable as such; they must be engaged in their duties; they must give a visual or audible signal to stay out of the buffer zone and the first responder must be distracted or concerned for their physical safety by a violator."
