Newspaper Rebuttal Rebukes Senator Eric Schmitt's 'I DON'T CARE' Epstein Sign

Context . . .

U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) held up a handwritten notepad reading "I DON'T CARE!" during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on August 4, 2026. He displayed the note while Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) was speaking about the victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during a vote related to the Justice Department.

Most local media have quietly overlooked the power broker protest . . . A top ranking TKC readers sent us this note for an alternative perspective on a topic that continues to divide across partisan lines . . .

Eric Schmitt doesn’t care. He really doesn’t.

Don’t take our word for it, take his. In a stunt that would embarrass a seventh-grader, Missouri’s Republican U.S. senator on Tuesday held up a handwritten note during Senate committee debate about the Trump administration’s botched release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking of minors.

Schmitt’s note read: “I DON’T CARE!”

So is it just this administration’s redactions, withholding and other mishandling of documents about the sexual abuse of at least 1,000 women and girls by a close pal of the president’s that Schmitt doesn’t care about? Or is there more about which our junior high-schooler — er, junior senator — doesn’t care?
