Nature Reclaims Blue River Road Amid Kansas City Neglect

Worthwhile complaints from our South Side friends as this cowtown pretty much ignores everything happening outside the loop . . . 

Portions of Blue River Road in south Kansas City, Missouri, have been closed to traffic since 2010.

However, the road has failed time and time again over the years — lack of maintenance contributes to its structural issues and being washed out by flooding. 

"They always filled it in, paved it over and it would last 10–15 years," said Craig Morea, a south Kansas City resident. "In 1990, they stopped maintaining the drainage infrastructure, and I think that accelerated the final collapse you see now."
