
Tonight's update on the legal battle for the midterms . . . Here's the latest setback for petitioners fighting to keep Congressman Cleaver in office and maintain KC's congressional district . . . Check-it:
"A Missouri judge on Wednesday upheld Republican Secretary of State Denny Hoskins’ decision to block from the ballot a campaign to strike down the state’s gerrymandered congressional map. Cole County Circuit Court Judge Daniel Green, in a 37-page ruling, found that Hoskins’ move was lawful. Green ruled that the state’s referendum process, which allows voters to collect signatures and challenge state laws, does not apply to congressional redistricting.
"The high-stakes ruling hands a loss to People Not Politicians, a campaign that last year turned in more than 305,000 signatures to force a statewide vote on the map on Nov. 3. But the decision is not final and will almost certainly be decided by the Missouri Supreme Court."
