More follow-up and reporting on a deadly shooting we linked last night . . . Here is the statement that police share with local media . . .
Homicide 5600 blk E 28th St
Just before 10:30 PM, officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of E 28th Street on a reported shooting.
As officers arrived they were directed to a residence on 28th street where they located an adult male victim on the front steps. The male was suffering from life threatening gun shot wounds. Officers immediately began performing life saving measures and KCFD EMS simultaneously arrived. Medics transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. A short time later hospital personnel declared the victim deceased.
This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Investigators are working to determine what led up to the incident and shots being fired. Detectives and crime scene technicians are on scene canvassing for witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and recovering any physical evidence.
