Kansas Senator Marshall Seyz Town Halls Too Dangerous

Newspaper criticism, justaposition and the dearth of a tech solution . . .

"Marshall offered an explanation for why he discontinued the longstanding practice. “The town halls just became non-productive and dangerous, not just dangerous for myself, but dangerous for my staff and dangerous for the people in the audience as well, so I just don’t think that they’re safe to do,” Marshall told the Junction City Post.

"Marshall isn’t alone in avoiding the format. Republicans held just 39 in-person town halls during the first half of 2026, according to LegiStorm, compared with roughly 300 held by Democrats. GOP leadership began encouraging House members to avoid them last year after confrontations over DOGE, federal layoffs and cuts to government programs."
