Kansas Mom Stays Winning Phone Fight

We share this note if only because our snark and skepticism might be the only way to have a bit of fun at the expense of so many middle-class suburban ladies inflicting their will on the future populace as far as phone etiquette is concerned . . . Meanwhile, in the grand scheme of things, hiding behind a screen isn't such a bad way to avoid interaction with our betters. 

Of course, we share a more optimistic view . . .

Kansas students are heading back to school this week under a new statewide bell-to-bell phone ban signed by Governor Laura Kelly — and Johnson County districts are each enforcing it differently.

Kim Whitman, co-lead for Distraction Free Schools and a Shawnee Mission School District mom, was at the governor's side when the ban was signed.

"I want my kids to be focused on learning when they're at school, and it's really hard if you have smart devices accessible," Whitman said.

She says the policy is long overdue.
