On the bright side . . . This effort is likely a better low-key win for Kansas City now that locals have a better idea about the global soccer impact on local biz or lack thereof . . .
The Women's World Cup earns about 1/3rd of the viewership as the men's games but that's still around a billion people and steadily rising.
Whilst we wouldn't advise anybody to bet their biz on this event . . . It's remains a worthwhile attraction for this town . . . Here's the word:
Local leaders say Kansas City has already proven itself on the world stage, so they're pushing for another opportunity.
"Kansas City should be a host city once again," KCMO Mayor Quinton Lucas said.
Kathy Nelson, president and CEO of the KC Sports Commission, echoed that sentiment.
"We've proven that we're an excellent host city," Nelson said.
