Kansas City Tenants Launch North Lawn Rent Strike

"Tenants at the North Lawn apartments have launched a rent strike after their landlord failed to meet a July 31 bargaining deadline.

"The strike, organized through the KC Tenants-affiliated North Lawn Tenant Union, officially began following a rally at the property with about 100 tenants and supporters, the union said. The property has had issues for years, with tenants reporting uninhabitable conditions, including no heat, electricity, sewage in basements and pest infestations."
