Michael Wheeler, famously known as "KC Superman," is a recognizable Kansas City veteran and street preacher who spent over a decade running miles through the metro area in a Superman shirt and red cape. He originally took up long-distance running to cope with personal grief from losing family members to gun violence, eventually adding the superhero attire around 2011 to spread an uplifting gospel message of peace and love. While his iconic runs and message of goodwill earned him deep community affection—including a dedicated local mural—his assertive public preaching also led to growing legal friction, resulting in trespassing citations and a lifetime ban from the Westport business district.
