This bit of local activism seems sketchy if only because Council Dude Eric Bunch now mostly serves as a mythical council dude creature who is seen in public less often than Bigfoot.
Given the involvement of the local t-shirt activist crew and so many canned resistance . . . The whole thing kinda seemed rigged.
However . . .
The populist fight won the day and now downtown is safe from the hum of server towers so that we can more clearly hear the rantings of so many homeless meth addicts and weekend street racers revving their engines into the early morning hours.
Here's a more optimistic take . . .
"The project, proposed by Miami-based Revitalization Unlimited, called for a 20-story, 384-foot tower with about 140,880 square feet of space.
"The building would mainly be used for data center operations, and on the ground floor there would be a coffee shop and some retail space.
"The proposal would have replaced the historic Western Newspaper Union Building, which dates to the 1920s and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003."
