Actually . . . This debate is obvious and constant but it gets boring saying it every time . . .
What voters should really know: This conversation about the new KCPD boss is already racially charged and leaders in the Black community aren't shy about advocating for their interests.
Cops, of course, want a promotion from within in order to preserve the status quo.
And, there's a push to "open the process to the public" so that activists can rally their supporters in order to flex by way of protest.
As always, we share a more genteel view of the process where middle-class newsies get to assuage their guilt by refusing to pose any tough questions.
