Kansas City Beer Kitchen Kaput Confirms Hard Times For Westport

By now our hipster friends are recovering from shock and might be able to handle a more rational discussion of a troubling trend.

BEER KITCHEN SHUTTING DOWN IN WESTPORT REVEALS THE END OF HIPSTER ERA REVIVAL!!!

Context that other newsies are scared to deliver . . .

Westport "demographics" no longer favor this kind of upscale offering. After dark the crowds are rougher, and lower on the economic food chain . . . The current Westport denizen isn't the type to care about locally-sourced ingredients or the "vision" of the chef.

Bright side . . .

As long as there are Americans, there will always be a market for cheap beer and a chance at a random hookup.

However . . .

The Westport's "hipster era" might now be complete as the party district once again struggles to maintain an identity . . . Check-it:

“The news is true. We have decided to close Beer Kitchen after almost 16 years in business. It has been a great experience and we are grateful to our many guests & employees. We love being in Westport and will miss not seeing Beer Kitchen on the corner of Westport & Pennsylvania. Our last day of operation is this Sunday, August 9th.”

"An employee said they were offered positions at the company’s Char Bar Smoked Meats & Amusements in Westport and Parkville; Meat Mitch Barbecue in Leawood; and Strang Hall in Overland Park.

"Although Beer Kitchen’s owners did not mention it in their statement, Westport venues also have been impacted for months by the closure at Westport Road and Mill Street for water and storm line work."
