Downtown Kansas City Luminary Park Schemes After Losing Fed Cash

We notice locals newsies have been quiet about this weeks' latest latest FAIL and hit to downtown momentum . . . 

FEDS REJECT DOWNTOWN CAP/TECH PLANS & NOW KANSAS CITY PLANS YET ANOTHER DOWNTOWN NO VOTE PROJECT!!!

In our view . . . This effort is even more dangerous than the downtown park because it depends on maintenance that KCMO, Missouri & Feds have already show that they'll neglect. 

And even worse . . .

PRIVATE MONEY PROMISED FOR THIS PROJECT IS ABSOLUTELY FAKE!!!

Kansas City has run this same scheme for the new animal shelter and even the World Cup . . . The promise of private sector financing NEVER holds true because politicos only hype donation announcement and don't actually write financial commitments into legislation.

Sadly, there aren't any other local news outlets that mention this fact of life.  

And so . . . For now we take a glimpse at the cover story . . . 

"The $25 million federal grant that the Roy Blunt Luminary Park missed out on was the BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development) grant program from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Kansas City officials had approved the grant application in February 2026, seeking the funds during the program's final year of congressional authorization."

 More deets on the local swindle: 

"The city proposed a new ordinance to issue $51.6 million in special obligation bonds to kick-start construction on the park's first phase.

"The City Council is pushing for the private sector to step up fundraising, raising the private capital target to $50 million (up from the $39.7 million currently identified). "
