That's not the fault of the current prosecutor given that most critics blame the controversial Jean Peters-Baker with bungling the case.

"One of the men accused in the deadly 2024 Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade shooting, is now facing additional felony charges after a grand jury approved a superseding indictment.

The grand jury found probable cause to move forward with an updated set of charges against Mays, who was originally charged in 2024 with second-degree felony murder, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

The superseding indictment keeps those original charges in place and adds seven counts of second-degree assault and seven counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Both of the new charges count as a Class D felony."
