Bill Baird Earns Mayor Q Blessing For Jackson County Exec

First and foremost . . . This line stands out from Mayor Q's morning screed . . . 

"I like many Republicans in my personal and professional life, but until their electeds abandon the chaotic, dehumanizing politics of the Trump era, none running in races impacting Kansas City and nearby jurisdictions in Missouri and Kansas are the superior choice. "

Accordingly . . .

Endorsements are typically pretty meaningless but this one might actually HURT Baird's chances.

Either way, here's the word . . .  

"For Jackson County Executive, former Lee’s Summit Mayor BILL BAIRD has experience from school board and City Council that will help stabilize Jackson County government, which is what we need after years of infighting and chaos.  I’ve read what his detractors say and most of it comes from a hard right that dislikes Mayor Baird’s past work to ensure Lee’s Summit welcomes people of all backgrounds, that he created more housing for folks at different income levels—something our county needs in all areas.  

"I like others in the race, but I think for where Jackson County is right now, a mayor of a successful community from which we rarely heard about infighting, allegations of corruption, or intense personal disputes during his tenure is the steady hand the county needs.
  
"And I come to this with some experience. Several years ago, Mayor Baird and I were on different sides of an issue. He picked up the phone, came to Kansas City City Hall, we met with each other and our staffs, came to a solid resolution, and it ended with us learning more about each other’s communities—and our differences never spilled into a distasteful public back and forth.  Mayor Baird settled disagreement like an adult, and my goodness, how refreshing it was then and now given our current national, state, and, sadly, county politics.  BILL BAIRD is the best choice."
