Another Kansas City Woman Shot Dead This Weekend

This is the second time a local female has been shot dead this weekend . . . The the fourth homicide so far this week as deadly violence begins the traditional late summer uptick despite claims of progress.

Here is the report police share with local media . . .  

Homicide 4700 block of Independence Ave. 

This morning just before 4 am officers were dispatched to Independence and Van Brunt on a shooting call. 

Simultaneously a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was nearby and heard the sound of gunshots and responded to the scene.

On arrival officers and the deputy located an adult female shooting victim unresponsive in the parking lot of the auto parts business on the northwest corner of the intersection. 

Officers called for EMS who responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene. 

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are at the scene now canvassing for witnesses and any video and processing the scene for any available evidence. 

Preliminary information indicates that the victim was at the location in the parking lot with an unknown number of other people when one or more suspects began shooting and the victim was struck. 

If anyone was in this area and heard or saw anything or has any information, and has not yet talked to police, they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
