"If 25-year-old of Winchester, Illinois, successfully completes the program, the cause will be dismissed, court records show.

"The 12-month diversion agreement requires him to provide education to local schools and athletic teams in his area about digital responsibility, legal consequences of posting threatening content on social media, and the impact of impulsive decision-making, said Jazzlyn Johnson, director of communications for the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office.

"He will be required to complete at least two educational activities or presentations per month and submit documentation of those activities, Johnson said.

"If the plan is violated, the prosecution on the original charge could resume."
