(Guv) Kehoe signed Missouri House Bill 1740 into law on Thursday, establishing “Bentley’s Law” in the state and requiring courts to order child maintenance payments when a person is found guilty of a DWI crash that kills a child’s parent.
The offender would be ordered to pay child support to the surviving spouse or guardian responsible for raising the victim’s child or children.

Missouri drunk drivers who kill parents must now pay child support
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe signed a bill into law Thursday that now requires drivers convicted of killing a parent while intoxicated to pay child support for the victim's surviving child or children in most cases.
