Protesters Shut Down Royals Stadium Meeting: Did It Work?!?

We don't mind taking a second look at last night's Royals stadium ruckus because the hot mess deserves more consideration AND we'd like to know what our bloggy readers think.

Accordingly . . .  

DID PROTESTERS AGAINST THE NEW KANSAS CITY ROYALS STADIUM PROVE VICTORIOUS OR DID THEY SABOTAGE THEMSELVES BY ALIGNING WITH SOCIAL JUSTICE STRUGGLE?!?

Consider . . . 

Protest can be a powerful thing but it's not everybody's cup of tea and by shutting down the conversation, did locals against the stadium alienate many supporters???

We're keeping an open mind about the whole thing because we're not certain if a public dust-up and some bad press is enough to stop a project worth billions. 

Moreover . . . There's the distinct possibility that the Royals could win a public vote given that efforts like the streetcar, the new airport and the E-tax can typically draw a slew of angry comments but then very little voter follow-through. 

The only thing this confirms for us is that the Royals remain JUST AS INCOMPETENT AT COMS as they are on the field.  

Everybody saw this protest coming and even with plenty of lead time . . . The front office couldn't get together a few union dudes to yell back or pack the meeting with their own supporters??? After years dealing with organized opposition, it's disheartening to see that the team hasn't learned any new tricks in much the same way that the home team NEVER SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND that they won't make it to the playoffs without decent pitching.  

Either way . . .

For Tuesday we wanted to reconsider the ruckus and pose tough questions upon our Internets journey.

"The meeting, held at Union Station, featured presentations from the Royals, Populous, and Crown Center representatives . . .

"The disruptions escalated, with questions raised about the Royals' financial dealings and the use of tax dollars for the stadium.

"A brief break was called to allow attendees to regroup, but the interruptions continued when the meeting resumed, ultimately leading to its abrupt conclusion.

"Many attendees left during the initial break due to the disruptions."
