Today, some of the numbers we're seeing are REALLY impressive . . . But the reality is that so many local biz people aren't feeling the benefit at all.
And so, it's reasonable to be skeptical . . . Check-it:
With capacity for the stadium less than for Kansas City Chiefs games, FIFA officials say the four matches have seen two sell-outs of the 69,045 maximum, and two games that were near capacity.
The National World War I Museum & Memorial has hosted the FIFA Fan Festival for the tournament. Organizers say more than 201,000 attendees have been to the Fan Festival, which has not been open every day of the tournament and has also been impacted at times by inclement weather.
Officials said 13% of attendees have been international, and last week KC2026 said 178 countries had been represented in Kansas City. Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico and Argentina had the most visitors of non-American attendees.
The KC Streetcar has seen nearly 500,000 riders in June, despite the tournament beginning on June 11. On June 27, a one-day record for riders was set at 48,260. That was the third day in June that the streetcar set a ridership record for the year.
