Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar Union Fights For Restroom Breaks

We talked about this cowtown collective bargaining ruckus last week but an interesting detail was tragically buried in recent follow-up coverage.

KANSAS CITY'S TYRANNICAL TOY TRAIN DOESN'T ALLOW ENOUGH POTTY BREAKS!!!

More importantly . . .

This complaint puts the local transit darling in the same league as Amazon warehouse overlords and just about every bad boss for service workers.

Here's an update on the union struggle that might give our urban hipster friends a second thought how much they're REALLY saving the planet but taking an afternoon toy train jaunt . . .

Check-it:

"The streetcar has seen record ridership numbers in the past month. Operators and mechanics say the growth is positive but has caused stress on the system.

"(Workers contend) pay and staffing haven’t kept up with the streetcar’s growth, or the country’s inflation, in that time.

"The workers would be represented by Teamsters local 955. They want higher pay, more staffing, better working hours and more safety protections on the job. The union, which could include more than 70 streetcar operators and maintenance workers if approved, would also work to get clear hiring, firing and discipline policies. Union leader said one other priority is securing bathroom breaks, which aren’t currently guaranteed."
