Kansas City Recession Indicator: Another Old Lady Caught Stealing

Earlier this month, a lady ripping off plants earned citywide news coverage . . . This time around, on the nicer side of the bridge . . . Images of donations snagged has earned viral status. 

Like it or not, it's never a good sign for the economy when seemingly middle-class ladies start looting.

A video showing a woman repeatedly taking donation bags from the Northland Clothing Center has been viewed nearly 2 million times online and shared more than 1,000 times, leading to a tip that identified the woman, the organization’s executive director said.

The Northland Clothing Center, which has provided clothing to people in need since 1959, operates out of a building where donors sometimes leave bags outside of business hours. Surveillance cameras have captured the same woman taking full, unopened bags of donations on multiple occasions, including Jan. 10, Feb. 8, June 14, July 5 and July 19.
