Sadly and very dangerously . . . Local media isn't helping Kansas City understand the news.
Respectfully, we submit that a recent statement from the Jackson County Sheriff created confusion. In fact, social media critics have pushed back on his words in subsequent comments.
However . . .
We don't think the Sheriff was being purposefully misleading, instead, we believe that he was attempting to emphasize that Jackson County Sheriffs were not conducting an immigration raid.
This topic is still open to debate and interpretation from both activists and elected officials. Most likely, the weekend World Cup game and a news lull will damped public curiosity.
Meanwhile . . .
Notice Kansas City politicos pushing back on this immigration drama and garnering support against MAGA policy.
Here's a quote that we pulled which illustrates a Democratic Missouri elected official weighing in on the situation along with noting public reaction from both sides of the political spectrum . . . Check-it:
Despite official assurances that the action was a targeted criminal probe rather than a standard immigration sweep, eyewitnesses and community advocates described a chaotic and distressing scene. State Representative Wick Thomas arrived shortly after the raid began, recounting a starkly different atmosphere:
“This morning, after receiving word from a neighbor, I showed up to a tragic site, stated Thomas, in a social media post. “I witnessed masked federal agents in unmarked vehicles taking our community members while their family members were trying to show the agents that their loved ones had work visas and were here legally. I witnessed 4 people being detained and have heard reports that 6 to 7 of our neighbors were taken.”
